The statewide average in California stands at $5.9272, while the national average is $4.2950. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying below the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 39 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5900, drivers are paying about 131 cents more per gallon.
