Saratoga, California — Gas prices in the San Jose area averaged $6.1477 per gallon for regular unleaded on September 20, 2026, according to AAA, up from $6.1319 yesterday. That is up from $5.9810 a week ago but higher than $5.5422 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $6.1533, while the national average is $4.4761. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying below the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 61 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5706, drivers are paying about 158 cents more per gallon.
