The statewide average in California stands at $6.3368, while the national average is $4.4874. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 78 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5591, drivers are paying about 180 cents more per gallon.
