Saratoga, California — Gas prices in the San Jose area averaged $6.4114 per gallon for regular unleaded on September 30, 2026, according to AAA, up from $6.3976 yesterday. That is up from $6.1801 a week ago but higher than $5.6345 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $6.3905, while the national average is $4.4343. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 78 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5572, drivers are paying about 185 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the San Jose area averages $8.6397 per gallon, AAA reported.
