The Texas Rangers saw their offensive hopes stall once again on Thursday, falling 5-2 to the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium. Despite a strong pitching performance from Cal Quantrill, the Rangers could not overcome a sixth-inning collapse that allowed the home team to seize control of the game.
Texas took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when Pederson drew a walk, allowing Carter to score from first base while Lopez and Díaz advanced to second and third, respectively. The Rangers tied the game in the third inning when Seager launched a home run to right field, measuring 378 feet.
Mike Trout later added a run in the same frame with a single to center field, driving in Guzman to give Texas a 2-1 advantage.
Sixth-Inning Collapse
The momentum shifted dramatically in the sixth inning. The Angels tied the game at 2-2 when Siri doubled to left field, bringing Grissom home. Texas then lost the lead when Guzman executed a sacrifice bunt to score Siri, putting Peraza in scoring position.
Trout followed with another single to center, allowing Peraza to score and making it 3-2. Frazier extended the Angels' lead with an infield single to first, scoring Neto before Ballesteros was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice, making the score 5-2.
Pitching Performances
Cal Quantrill was the standout pitcher for Texas, delivering five innings of work. He allowed four hits and one earned run while striking out six batters and walking three. However, the Rangers' bullpen struggled to maintain the deficit.
