Trailing Effort
The Los Angeles Angels found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard once again, dropping an 8-3 decision to the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field on Wednesday. Despite early offensive sparks, Los Angeles could not sustain momentum against a Rangers club that ultimately pulled away in the eighth inning.
The Angels struck first in the opening frame, taking a 1-0 lead when Soler doubled to left field, allowing Schanuel to score. Lowe added to the advantage later in the inning with a single to center, bringing Soler home for a 2-0 lead. However, the Rangers responded in the second inning.
Lopez singled to left, driving in two runs as Carter and Osuna scored, tying the game at 2-2.
Pitching Struggles
The game remained tied until the seventh inning when Meckler singled to left, scoring Peraza to give Texas a 3-2 lead. The Angels quickly answered, with Foscue homering to left (387 feet) to tie the contest at 3-3.
The eighth inning proved decisive. Duran singled to left, scoring Smith and moving Burger to third. Foscue followed with a single to left, driving in Burger to make it 5-3. The scoring did not stop there. Osuna homered to right (364 feet), a three-run shot that extended the Rangers' lead to 8-3.
For the Angels, Sam Bachman took the loss after allowing five earned runs on six hits in just 0.2 innings of work. He was joined in the mound rotation by Jose Soriano, who pitched 6.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits with four strikeouts.
