The Colorado Rockies overcame an early deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Dodger Stadium. The victory improved the Rockies' record to 38-55, while the Dodgers fell to 60-33.

Scoring Sequence and Key Plays

Los Angeles took an early lead when Shohei Ohtani homered to center field in the first inning, measuring 409 feet. The ball cleared the fence, giving the home team a 1-0 advantage that stood until the fifth inning. In the top of the fifth, Colorado narrowed the gap as Pages walked, allowing Freeland to score from third base while Ohtani moved to second and Rojas advanced to third. The Rockies took their first lead in the sixth inning when McCarthy grounded out to shortstop, allowing Carrigg to score. Freeman reached second base on the play. Later in the same inning, Freeland singled to left field, bringing Edman home to extend the Rockies' lead to 3-1.

The Dodgers responded in the eighth inning when Freeman grounded into a fielder's choice to shortstop, allowing Karros to score. Carrigg reached second base and was safe at third on a fielding error by shortstop Rojas, making the score 3-2. The inning turned decisively for Colorado when McCarthy hit a sacrifice bunt to third base. Carrigg scored on an error, and Freeman scored on a throwing error by second baseman Freeland. The two-run play gave the Rockies a 4-2 lead. Although the Dodgers managed to score one more run, the final tally stood at 4-3 in favor of Colorado.

Pitching Performances

Michael Lorenzen started for the Rockies, pitching six innings. He allowed six hits and two earned runs while striking out five batters and issuing three walks. Juan Mejia earned the win after pitching two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out one batter. Jordan Romano secured the save with a perfect inning, recording one strikeout and walking one batter.

For the Dodgers, Justin Wrobleski pitched seven innings, allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out nine batters. Will Klein took the loss after pitching 0.1 innings, allowing one hit and one walk. Jack Dreyer recorded the blown save, pitching 0.2 scoreless innings. Evan Phillips closed the game with a perfect inning, striking out two batters.

The game drew an attendance of 47,806 fans to Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
