Three individuals lost their lives Monday evening after a vehicle went off a steep embankment near Highway 9 in Saratoga. The California Highway Patrol identified the driver as a 21-year-old man from Yuba City who reportedly lost control of his 2024 BMW M3. He died along with two occupants: a 27-year-old man from Salem, Oregon, and a 17-year-old boy from San Jose.
Saratoga firefighters received the initial report just after 9:30 p.m., noting the car fell approximately 300 feet. Authorities closed both directions of the highway for roughly three hours to manage the scene. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
