Saratoga man pleads guilty, gets 8 years in drug case

Kenny Seales, 49, was sentenced to eight years in state prison on Monday after entering a guilty plea to all counts in a felony drug indictment, according to the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office. The sentencing took place the day before his scheduled jury trial was set to begin.

Judge James R. Davis imposed the determinate sentence in Saratoga County Court, followed by five years of post-release supervision. Seales pleaded guilty to one count of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, two additional felony counts of the same charge, and another felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The charges originated from a traffic stop on the Adirondack Northway in the Town of Malta on August 29, 2025. During that stop, officers seized nearly eight ounces of cocaine and just under half an ounce of fentanyl. The New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit led the investigation, a unit described as focusing on the interdiction of narcotics and firearm trafficking.

District Attorney Brett R. Eby characterized Seales as a repeat offender with five prior felony convictions related to drug trafficking, including a prior conviction in Kings County involving a loaded firearm. The DA’s office also noted that Seales faces pending felony narcotics charges in Vermont, which involve the alleged sale of cocaine and possession of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

Eby stated that the defendant’s conduct has endangered communities inside and outside New York State. While prosecutors sought a longer sentence given the defendant’s history and the severity of the offenses, the court adhered to the plea agreement terms. The case was prosecuted by Meghan A. Horton, Chief of the Special Investigations and Narcotics Unit, with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Jack Barney.
