The College of Adaptive Arts honored thirty-nine adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities during its June 20 commencement at Mission College. The nonprofit, situated on the West Valley College campus in Saratoga, awarded privately accredited diplomas across multiple disciplines. West Valley-Mission College District Chancellor Brad Davis, CAA Executive Director Nicole Kim, and student Sam Headley addressed the audience, which also enjoyed performances by the school’s cheer squad, guitar class, and hip hop dance crew.
Separately, Saratoga is organizing its annual Fourth of July event at Kevin Moran Park, located at 12415 Scully Ave. The festivities run from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on July 4, beginning with a 9:15 a.m. concert by the McCartysville Band. The main program includes a color guard presentation, veteran tributes, musical performances, and the Voices of Freedom showcase, followed by a short parade around the park. Free water, flags, and ice pops for children will be provided, with shaded seating available for older adults and individuals with disabilities. Limited street parking is available, with additional options near Blue Hills Elementary School and Goleta Avenue, or via the footbridge connecting Azule and Kevin Moran parks.
