Saratoga residents have filed multiple reports involving property loss and fraud during the last ten days. The incidents range from computer hacking to physical thefts and digital scams.
On July 23, individuals in Saratoga discovered that their computer accounts had been compromised. Hackers accessed these accounts to obtain personal identifying information. Authorities noted that no financial losses were reported in connection with this identity theft.
Later that month, a leaf blower was taken from the front yard of a home located in the 12000 block of Country Squire Lane. The theft occurred between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on July 28. The total value of the stolen equipment is estimated at approximately $1,499.
On July 28, a purse was stolen from an unattended location at Saratoga High School on Herriman Avenue. The incident took place between 9:10 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Inside the bag was a cell phone that the victim was able to track.
The tracking signal led the victim to the Saratoga Library on Saratoga Avenue. Upon confronting the suspect at the library, the individual returned the cell phone. The purse itself was found in the bushes surrounding the building. However, it was missing a car key valued at roughly $650.
