Law enforcement officials in Saratoga have documented several distinct incidents of criminal activity occurring over a week-long period in mid-August. The cases involve residential break-ins, damage to public park grounds, and a substantial financial loss due to altered checks.
The first reported incident occurred between August 14 and August 17. An individual entered a construction site located in the 18000 block of Quito Grove Court. During this intrusion, tools were taken from the site. The estimated value of the stolen equipment is approximately $4,550.
A second burglary took place between August 16 and August 18 at an empty home in the 19000 block of Cox Avenue. Investigators state that the suspect forced open the front door to enter the uninhabited residence. Once inside, the individual vandalized the interior by applying graffiti. The total cost for the damage sustained to the property has not been disclosed.
On August 19, a resident reported a complex financial crime involving mail theft and check fraud. According to the report, someone intercepted a check shortly after it was mailed. The perpetrator then altered the document and successfully cashed it. This fraud resulted in a total loss of about $274,000 for the victim.
Another vandalism case was reported on August 23, covering the timeframe from 7:30 p.m. on August 22 to 9:30 a.m. on August 23. In this incident, a vehicle was driven onto the central lawn of Congress Springs Park, which is situated on Glen Brae Drive. The driver operated the vehicle in circles on the grass, causing damage estimated at approximately $5,000.
