The City of Saratoga is currently gathering input from residents regarding their priorities for public safety and law enforcement services. This effort is part of an ongoing evaluation of long-term policing strategies for the community.

On August 19, city councilmembers approved a decision to continue contracting public safety services with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. The agreement secures funding of $10.6 million for the next five years, a figure that represents a slight reduction in service levels compared to previous arrangements. Prior to this new contract, the city had allocated $9 million for law enforcement services.

To facilitate public participation, several community meetings are scheduled for September. Residents can also submit their views through an online survey available at bayareane.ws/46zrowt. Additional details about the process can be found at bit.ly/4h58fIN.

In a separate development, the Saratoga Union School District has confirmed that all enrolled students will continue to receive free meals during the current school year. The district comprises Argonaut Elementary School, Foothill Elementary School, Saratoga Elementary School, and Redwood Middle School. Families are not required to submit applications or undergo eligibility determinations to access these services.

These meals are provided under the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, ensuring that every student has access to nutritious breakfast and lunch at no cost.

Additionally, Santa Clara County Library District is offering a limited edition San Jose Sharks library card featuring the team’s new “Turn it All Teal” design. Residents of all ages can visit any library location in the county, including the Saratoga Library, during September to claim one of these cards. Information regarding library cards and eCards is available at sccld.org/card.
