Saratoga High School will hold its annual Hall of Fame Dinner on Saturday, September 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Villa Ragusa in Campbell. The public is invited to attend the event, which recognizes individuals for their contributions to academics, athletics, the arts, public service, and leadership.
This year’s inductees include emeritus staff members Karen Hyde, Kerry Mohnike, and Paul Page. The alumni being honored are Isabel McPherson (class of 2012), Peter Ruf (1980), Jason Shiuan (2011), Varun Sivaram (2007), Peter Smith (1979), and Sarah Anne Thermond (2007). Tickets for the dinner are available through the school’s website.
In related community news, the Saratoga High School Class of 1976 is scheduled to meet on October 10 at Redwood Grove in Saratoga Springs. Additionally, the Class of 1968 will gather on October 4 at a private residence.
Local organizations are also hosting upcoming events. Cancer CAREpoint recently held a sold-out Garden Party, with proceeds supporting local cancer patients and families. Board chair Sarah Schiltz stated that the group has raised $1.275 million to date, which funds free counseling, support groups, wellness programs, and financial assistance.
The annual SCAREatoga scarecrow display will run from September 26 to November 1 along Big Basin Way and at participating homes. Residents and businesses can submit handmade scarecrows to compete in categories such as Most Original and Funniest. Winners receive a $60 gift card to a local restaurant. Applications and drop-offs are handled by the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce.
New dining options are also arriving in the area. Sultan’s Kebab has opened at 14554 Big Basin Way, serving beef kebabs, lavash, rice, hummus, falafel, and vegetarian dishes. Negeen Persian Cuisine is set to open its second location in the former Mere Michelle space, expanding on its Campbell restaurant which has operated for more than 20 years.
