The San Jose Earthquakes, in partnership with the City of San Jose and the San Jose Sports Authority, announced that the Soccer Celebration watch party for the July 5 Round of 16 matches will be held at Discovery Meadow. The event, featuring Mexico versus England and Brazil versus Norway, is moving from its previous venue, San Pedro Square Market, to the downtown location at 180 Woz Way. San Jose is situated approximately 9 miles northeast of Saratoga.

The relocation addresses the significant turnout at the original site. Since the FIFA World Cup 2026 began on June 11, more than 400,000 fans have attended viewing parties at San Pedro Square Market. The new venue at Discovery Meadow is intended to provide additional space for attendees to gather and watch the games. Entry to the Discovery Meadow event requires a free ticket, which will be available starting at 12 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday, July 3.

The watch parties scheduled for San Pedro Square Market on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, will proceed as originally planned. Those events will resume at the same location on Monday, July 6, and continue until further notice. The kickoff for the Brazil versus Norway match is set for 1 p.m. Pacific Time on Sunday. The Mexico versus England match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Pacific Time, with doors opening at 10 a.m.

Mayor Matt Mahan stated that the community’s enthusiasm demonstrates San Jose’s status as a soccer city. He noted that the organization is opening larger venues to allow fans and families to celebrate safely during the historic matchups. Additional viewing options for the Sunday games are listed on the sj26.sanjose.org/world-cup website.

The San Jose Earthquakes, an original Major League Soccer club, have won MLS Cups in 2001 and 2003 and Supporters’ Shields in 2005 and 2012. The team plays at PayPal Park, an 18,000-seat stadium that opened in 2015. The San Jose Sports Authority, a nonprofit established in 1991, supports local sports programs and events. SJ26, an initiative of the Sports Authority, aims to showcase San Jose as a sports destination through various fan experiences.

Details regarding the specific capacity limits or security protocols for the Discovery Meadow event were not provided in the announcement.
