Teen identified in fatal Saratoga crash on Highway 9

Authorities have identified 17-year-old Ranvir Singh Randhawa as one of three people killed when a vehicle plunged off a cliff along Highway 9 in Saratoga.

The Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner has identified 17-year-old Ranvir Singh Randhawa of San Jose as one of the three fatalities in a crash along Highway 9 in Saratoga. The incident occurred Monday evening when a 2024 BMW M3 veered off the roadway west of Redwood Gulch Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver, a 21-year-old man from Yuba City, lost control of the vehicle around 9:36 p.m. The car traveled down a steep 300-foot embankment. Randhawa was riding in the vehicle with two other men; the driver and a 27-year-old passenger from Salem, Oregon, also died in the crash.

Highway 9 remained closed for several hours while investigators examined the scene and recovery crews removed the vehicle. Further details regarding the specific cause of the loss of control were not provided.
