Three Killed in Highway 9 Crash Near Saratoga

A BMW driver and two passengers died after the vehicle left Highway 9 near Saratoga on Monday evening.

California Highway Patrol confirmed that three individuals died Monday night when a BMW departed Highway 9 near Saratoga and descended a steep embankment. The agency responded to the scene west of Redwood Gulch Road around 9:36 p.m. and discovered the occupants had sustained fatal injuries.

The driver was identified as a 21-year-old man from Yuba City. The other victims were a 27-year-old man from Salem, Oregon, and a 17-year-old boy from San Jose. CHP stated the driver likely lost control of the vehicle, though further details regarding the identities of the deceased were not immediately released.

Highway 9 remained closed for three hours in both directions while investigators worked at the site. The agency is continuing its inquiry and has asked anyone with relevant information to contact them at (408) 961-0900.
