Three Dead in Highway 9 Crash Near Saratoga

A 2024 BMW lost control on Highway 9 near Saratoga, killing three occupants including a 17-year-old San Jose teen.

Three individuals died Monday night after their vehicle departed the roadway on Highway 9 near Saratoga, the California Highway Patrol reported. The crash occurred east of Redwood Gulch Road around 9:36 p.m., sending a 2024 BMW M3 sedan down an embankment.

The deceased include the driver, a 21-year-old from Yuba City, a 27-year-old man from Salem, Oregon, and a 17-year-old San Jose resident. Authorities have withheld their names pending formal identification and next-of-kin notification by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

Initial findings indicate the driver lost control while traveling eastbound, but the specific cause remains under investigation. The highway was closed for approximately three hours for scene processing. The CHP San Jose area field office is seeking information at 408-961-0900.
