Padres Offense Explodes
The San Diego Padres broke open a tight contest with a decisive offensive surge, securing an 8-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. The win improved San Diego’s record to 50-51, while Atlanta fell to 58-42.
Manny Machado was the catalyst for the Padres, delivering two home runs that shifted the momentum firmly in San Diego’s favor. His first blast came in the fifth inning, a 412-foot shot to left field that extended the lead to 5-2. He added another in the sixth, launching a 418-foot homer to center field to make it 6-2.
Tatis Jr. also contributed significantly to the offensive output. He opened the scoring in the first inning with a run-scoring single to center field off Reynaldo Lopez. Later, in the eighth inning, Tatis Jr. connected for a 474-foot home run to left-center field, driving in one run to cap the scoring at 8-3.
Braves Struggle with Pitching
Atlanta’s starting pitcher, Reynaldo Lopez, faced a difficult outing. He pitched 4.1 innings, allowing nine hits and five earned runs while striking out six batters. The loss dropped his record to 4-3.
JR Ritchie entered the game and pitched 3.2 innings, giving up three earned runs on three hits with four strikeouts. Tyler Kinley closed out the Braves' pitching effort with one scoreless inning, recording one strikeout.
The Braves managed to score three runs. Jarred Kelenic’s triple in the second inning drove in two runs. In the seventh inning, a balk allowed a run to score, though the scoring play was recorded multiple times in the official log, resulting in one run credited to that sequence.
