Padres Take Early Lead
The San Diego Padres jumped out to an early advantage, capitalizing on Kansas City pitching to take control of the game in the first inning. Lane Thomas led the charge with a powerful 421-foot home run to left center, driving in Jensen to put San Diego ahead 2-0.
The Padres extended their lead in the third inning. Tatis Jr. added to the scoreboard with a 411-foot home run to left center, making the score 2-1. Shortly after, Caglianone doubled to left field, allowing Jensen to score from first base and push the margin to 3-1 in favor of San Diego.
Royals Rally in Fourth and Sixth
Kansas City began to chip away at the deficit in the bottom of the fourth inning. Collins singled to center field, bringing Massey home to make it 3-2. The Royals continued to apply pressure, but the Padres’ bullpen managed to hold the line until the sixth inning.
The turning point came in the sixth when Salvador Perez delivered a decisive blow. Perez homered to center field, a 438-foot shot that also drove in Pasquantino. This two-run blast gave the Royals a 4-3 lead, shifting the momentum entirely in Kansas City’s favor.
