Late Surge Secures Victory

The Kansas City Royals rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat the San Francisco Giants, 5-4, at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday. The win improves Kansas City’s record to 43-60, while San Francisco falls to 42-60.

The game remained tight through the middle innings before exploding in the seventh. The Giants had taken control early, building a 3-0 lead. Arraez drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly to center field in the sixth inning.

Lee added to the advantage in the seventh with a triple to right field, scoring Devers. Adames extended the lead further with a ground-rule double, bringing Lee home to make it 3-0.

Perez and Loftin Lead Comeback

Kansas City began chipping away at the lead in the same inning. Salvador Perez homered to center field, a 437-foot shot that scored Pasquantino and cut the deficit to 3-2. The Royals tied the game shortly after when Loftin singled to left field, driving in Massey and advancing Marte to second base.

The inning turned decisively in Kansas City’s favor when Thomas singled to right field. The hit allowed Loftin to score from second base and Marte to cross the plate from third, giving the Royals a 5-3 lead. Jensen reached third base on the play.

Pitching Highlights and Final Outings

Seth Lugo earned the win for Kansas City, pitching seven innings and allowing three earned runs while striking out five batters. Daniel Lynch IV provided a scoreless eighth inning, earning his 12th hold. Steven Cruz closed out the game in the ninth, recording his first save of the season despite allowing one run.

For San Francisco, Landen Roupp pitched six innings, giving up four hits and two earned runs while striking out seven. Sam Hentges took the loss after pitching 0.1 innings and allowing two earned runs. Keaton Winn recorded the save earlier in the game, and Erik Miller pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Schmitt hit a solo home run to left field in the ninth inning, a 376-foot shot that made the final score 5-4. The game drew an attendance of 14,606 spectators to Kauffman Stadium.
