Late Rally Falls Short
The San Francisco Giants mounted a furious comeback in the late innings, only to see their efforts end in heartbreak during the 10th inning. Despite tying the game and threatening to take the lead, the Giants ultimately fell 4-3 to the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park.
The game remained tight through the first six innings before breaking open. Seattle took an early 1-0 lead in the third inning when Eldridge singled to center field, allowing Gilbert to score on a fielding error by Giants center fielder Raley. The Mariners extended their advantage in the sixth inning.
First, Adames homered to right field, measuring 358 feet, to make it 2-0. Shortly after, Devers added another home run, blasting one 339 feet to left field, pushing the lead to 3-0.
Giants Fight Back
San Francisco began to chip away at the deficit in the seventh inning. Young launched a three-run home run to right center, traveling 405 feet, which tied the game at 3-3. The blast energized the Giants, who held the Mariners scoreless for the remainder of the regulation innings.
Pitching played a crucial role in keeping the game close. Logan Webb started for San Francisco, pitching 6.2 innings. He allowed two hits and three earned runs while striking out five batters.
The Giants bullpen worked to keep the game tied, with Sam Hentges pitching a perfect inning, followed by Keaton Winn and Erik Miller, who combined to retire the side without allowing a hit. Dylan Smith entered in the ninth inning but walked a batter before exiting. He took the loss, dropping his record to 0-2.
