San Francisco is evaluating injuries to receiver Mike Evans, left tackle Trent Williams and linebacker Dre Greenlaw after a 36-30 victory over Arizona. Coach Kyle Shanahan said Williams, who suffered a stinger, is expected to practice Thursday.
Evans sustained a rib injury in the first half, and Shanahan said it is not expected to be long term, though the receiver’s availability depends on how he responds. Greenlaw has a bruised quadriceps.
Evans has 12 catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns in his first season with the 49ers. San Francisco has also been without receivers Ricky Pearsall, De’Zhaun Stribling and Demarcus Robinson. The team has scored touchdowns on 48.2% of its possessions through three games, the NFL’s best rate over that span since at least 2000, according to the report.
Brock Purdy has four touchdown passes in each of his last three games, a league-leading 133.1 passer rating and 10 total touchdowns, tied for the most in franchise history through three games.
The 49ers have not allowed a sack in three games, a feat they had not achieved in an opening three-game stretch since 1979. Their defense allowed Arizona to convert nine of 18 third downs and two fourth downs. Special teams also struggled, including a muff after a punt touched Siran Neal’s leg, and Eddy Pineiro missed two extra points.
