Jed York, who owns the San Francisco 49ers, was taken into custody in East Palestine, Ohio, amid a local police crackdown on prostitution. He entered a no contest plea to charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools, with the original charges of engaging in prostitution later modified.
Court records reveal that York, who also has a residence in Youngstown, Ohio, paid a total of $1,150 in fines along with $135 in court fees. He additionally paid $50 to seek the expungement of the misdemeanor charges. The documents indicate that $160 seized from him will be forfeited to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, while his cellphone will be returned to him.
York's arraignment occurred at 8:30 a.m., and he subsequently settled his fees. The 49ers organization opted not to comment, labeling the matter a resolved legal issue. The NFL acknowledged awareness of the situation and stated it would be reviewed according to the league's personal conduct policy.
Steve Irwin, a spokesperson for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, noted that York's arrest was part of standard enforcement by the human trafficking task force but did not elaborate further. York, aged 46, has been with the 49ers for over 20 years and took on the role of principal owner two years ago, continuing his family's legacy with the franchise.
