In a joint practice session held in El Segundo, California, Los Angeles Chargers center Tyler Biadasz sustained a leg injury after only seven plays. The incident occurred when 49ers defensive lineman Sebastian Valdez was blocked into Biadasz's leg by Chargers left guard Kayode Awosika. Biadasz was visibly in pain and was carted off the field, expressing frustration by hitting the cart multiple times.

Quarterback Justin Herbert and other teammates showed their support for Biadasz, with Herbert hoping for a favorable outcome regarding the injury. The Chargers are currently awaiting medical evaluations to assess the severity of Biadasz's condition.

With Biadasz sidelined, rookie center Jake Slaughter, who had been practicing mainly with the second team, stepped up to fill the role. Slaughter expressed concern for Biadasz, noting his importance as a mentor and leader. He acknowledged mixed results in his performance, having been beaten by 49ers defensive lineman Osa Odighizuwa but also achieving some success in the run game.

Herbert praised Slaughter's quick adaptation to the first-team offense, emphasizing his understanding of the system and pass protection skills. The Chargers, having drafted Slaughter in the third round, seem better equipped to handle injuries this season.

Herbert also demonstrated his skills during practice, making notable plays, including a successful pass in a red-zone drill, highlighting the challenges and opportunities the team faces as they prepare for the upcoming season.
