Cal has seven players on its initial injury report for the ACC opener at Syracuse, with running back Carter Vargas and offensive lineman Kahlee Tafai listed as doubtful. Outside linebackers Justin Beadles and Sergine Tounkara, tight end Rico Walker, and wide receivers Trevor Rogers and Cole Boscia are questionable.
Beadles took part in pregame warmups before Cal's game against UCLA and is moving toward a possible return, while tight end Dorian Thomas also warmed up and is nearing a return. Thomas and center Bastian Swinney do not appear on the current report. No Cal player is designated out.
The game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Pacific time and will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
The ACC requires availability reports each day beginning three nights before a conference game, plus another report two hours before kickoff. Designations may change, and two reports remain before the Syracuse matchup. Syracuse lists defensive back Tedarius Hughes, linebacker Maurice Medley, offensive linemen Jackson Iak and D’Joni Scatlife, and wide receivers Nate Edwards and Terrell Wiltfong as out.
Wide receiver Calvin Russell III is questionable. Syracuse coach Fran Brown said Russell is expected back in a couple of weeks. On3.com published the report.
