Six players are listed with injury designations before Cal hosts Clemson in Berkeley on Friday. Cal running back Carter Vargas and defensive lineman Nate Burrell are doubtful, while Clemson has listed cornerback Corian Gipson, defensive tackle Devarrick Woods and running back Jay Haynes as questionable.
Clemson quarterback Christopher Vizzina is probable because of an elbow injury, although freshman Tait Reynolds is set to make his second start.
Vargas opened Cal's season against UCLA and departed after four carries for 14 yards and two catches totaling 6 yards. He also handles kickoff returns and sometimes plays slot receiver. An absence would be his third straight game out.
Adam Mohammed has carried 20 times per game through three contests and has 285 rushing yards. Ashten Emory, Anthony League and Carson Perry-Smith are in line for work behind him if Vargas remains unavailable.
Burrell started Cal's first two games at interior tackle or defensive end before sitting out against Wagner. He has eight tackles, one of Cal's five sacks and two quarterback hurries. Derek Wilkins or Emmanuel Okoye could take his starting spot, based on the defensive alignment.
Jimothy Lewis Jr. has no injury designation after starting the first two games, but Cal has not determined whether he or Michael Klisiewicz, who started against Wagner, will begin at tackle.
