Nadame Tucker is standing out in training camp with the Los Angeles Chargers after an impressive college career. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound edge rusher, who went undrafted, previously played at the University of Houston before transferring to Western Michigan.
At Houston, Tucker had a challenging start, only beginning in 2022 and tallying 10 tackles across three seasons. His performance took a significant turn at Western Michigan, where he excelled under defensive coordinator Chris O’Leary.
In the 2025 season, Tucker recorded 55 tackles, leading the country with 21 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks, and was recognized as the Mid-American Conference MVP and Defensive Player of the Year.
O’Leary’s encouragement was pivotal for Tucker’s growth. "Just starting off by believing in me," Tucker remarked about O’Leary's support. Following O’Leary to the Chargers, Tucker is eager to showcase his abilities in the NFL.
During camp, he has garnered attention among a skilled group of pass rushers, including Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu. Tucker's aggressive style is evident as he strives to maintain safety while being intense. He noted, "I’m just a guy who wants to go through your face," acknowledging the difficulty of demonstrating his skills in practice.
Though making the 53-man roster may be tough, Tucker has shown potential, highlighted by a solid preseason performance against the Houston Texans, where he recorded one tackle and one quarterback hit. "I feel like I’m home," he stated, emphasizing his comfort with the team and eagerness to learn from veterans.
