However, he primarily remained on the practice squad and did not make the final roster due to a coaching change in Miami. His addition to the Chargers indicates a continued connection with McDaniel's coaching staff.
At 6 feet 3 inches and 210 pounds, Wease adds depth to the wide receiver position for the Chargers, particularly as they deal with injuries to players like Ladd McConkey. Currently, he is one of only two receivers on the practice squad, alongside others who are on injured reserve.
This move may also reflect a longer-term strategy for the team, especially if recent draft picks such as Tre Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith do not progress as anticipated, or if the team decides against keeping Quentin Johnston for the next season.
