Running back Keaton Mitchell of the Chargers has not participated in three straight practices due to a mild injury setback. This follows a short visit to the medical tent during a preseason matchup against the 49ers. Offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel acknowledged the situation but did not elaborate on the specifics of the injury.

McDaniel conveyed confidence in the depth of the running back position, stating that the team is equipped with several capable players. He remarked on the importance of having multiple options at running back, noting the positive contributions from younger players as they push to join the group.

Mitchell is in his first season with the Chargers after spending three years with the Ravens. He has faced injury challenges in the past, including a torn ACL during his rookie season in 2023, which required significant rehabilitation.

In 2024, he played only five games and participated in 13 games in 2025, concluding his time with the Ravens with a total of 59 rushing attempts for 341 yards and one touchdown, averaging 5.8 yards per carry. If he can stay healthy, Mitchell's speed and agility are expected to enhance the Chargers' offensive strategy, serving as a backup to Omarion Hampton in McDaniel's system.

Updates on his condition remain pending.
