As the Los Angeles Rams approach the final preseason game, head coach Sean McVay has indicated that the team will face difficult choices in trimming the roster from 90 to 53 players, particularly at the running back position. McVay expressed strong confidence in Ronnie Rivers, stating, "Trust is a big word. I trust Ronnie Rivers.

I trust that he knows what he's doing." He noted Rivers' skills in pass protection and his contributions to both the running and passing games, which suggests Rivers is likely to secure the RB3 role behind starters Kyren Williams and Blake Corum.

This confidence may complicate the future of other running backs such as Jarquez Hunter, Jordan Waters, and Dean Connors. Rivers has not participated in the first two preseason games, which typically indicates he is expected to play a significant role in the regular season.

In contrast, Hunter, Waters, and Connors have all seen playing time, but none have made a strong enough case to outshine Rivers. Hunter has tallied 103 yards on 21 carries with one touchdown, while Waters has gained 91 yards on 15 carries.

Connors has recorded 27 yards on 8 carries and has shown more promise in the passing game with four receptions totaling 29 yards and two touchdowns.

As the Rams finalize their roster for the upcoming season, McVay's trust in Rivers suggests he is a key player in the team's plans.
