The Los Angeles Chargers have added wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. to their practice squad as they gear up for the 2026 season. This signing occurs just over a week before their Week 1 home matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
Wease Jr. was picked up after being released by the Miami Dolphins, where he played under offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel in the previous season. He spent most of the last year on Miami's practice squad but made an impact during the final three regular season games, recording six receptions for 139 yards and one touchdown, highlighted by a 63-yard catch against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Before his time with the Dolphins, Wease Jr. began his college football career at Oklahoma and later excelled at Missouri, totaling 109 receptions for 1,566 yards and 10 touchdowns across two seasons. The Chargers are looking to boost their offensive performance this year, having made several key additions, including new interior offensive linemen and tight ends, alongside hiring McDaniel as their offensive coordinator.
The team's wide receiver group is led by Quentin Johnston, who has consistently surpassed 700 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in the last two seasons. Other receivers, such as Ladd McConkey, Tre’ Harris, Derius Davis, KeAndre Lambert-Smith, and Brenen Thompson, are also part of the roster, with expectations for Harris to take on a more significant role after a quieter rookie season.
