Saratoga, California — Jack Bouwmeester is joining the San Francisco 49ers after the team completed a three-year deal with the punter on Saturday. In the same roster update, the club placed rookie tight end Khalil Dinkins on the active/non-football injury list.
Bouwmeester most recently played at Texas, where the 49ers said he handled 59 punts across 13 games in 2025. Those kicks covered 2,627 yards, producing a 44.5-yard average.
Before his season with the Longhorns, he played three years at Utah after beginning his college career at Michigan State. San Francisco listed 53 total college appearances and 213 punts for Bouwmeester.
A separate report from Niners Nation said the signing gives San Francisco two active punters, with Corliss Waitman also on the roster. It said Dinkins will not occupy a 53-man-roster position during his active/non-football injury-list designation.
For South Bay followers, the personnel move is part of the 49ers’ preparation for camp, with the club adding another option to its specialist competition.
