Saratoga, California — San Jose announced July 8 that defenseman Libor Hajek has joined the organization on a one-year, two-way contract.

Hajek is 28 and played last season for HC Dynamo Pardubice in Czechia’s professional league. The Sharks said he recorded six goals and seven assists in 44 regular-season games as the club captured its league championship.

His prior NHL experience includes 110 games with the New York Rangers across portions of five seasons. He has also appeared in 129 AHL games, according to the Sharks.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel reported that Hajek joins a group competing for NHL roster places during training camp. The agreement is for one season and carries a two-way designation, according to the club.

Saratoga is in the South Bay market served by the Sharks. This report concerns the club’s offseason signing, not a score or game recap.
