Saratoga, California — Golden State's front office moved quickly in the opening days of NBA free agency, securing center Kristaps Porziņģis on a two-year, $40 million extension and bringing back guard De'Anthony Melton for roughly $11 million over two seasons.

The biggest headline, however, was created by Draymond Green, who declined his $27.7 million player option to become an unrestricted free agent. The decision gives Green leverage in negotiating what could be the final major contract of his career, but it also introduces uncertainty into the Warriors' roster construction.

Porziņģis provides the Warriors with a rim-protecting presence and floor-spacing big who can complement Stephen Curry's offensive gravity. Melton's return preserves a defensive-minded guard who has shown flashes of two-way impact when healthy.

The Warriors' offseason strategy appears aimed at extending their competitive window rather than pressing reset. By extending Porziņģis and retaining Melton while leaving the door open for Green's return, the front office is signaling that the championship era isn't over yet — just evolving.
