Surrey Heath Borough Council has given the final go-ahead to revised plans for a retirement village in the Frimley area. The development, situated on St Catherines Road, will feature 49 bungalows arranged around a central care hub. While the initial proposal received approval in January, the project was sent back to the council to address specific accessibility concerns before being re-submitted for a final decision.

The updated design includes on-site care staff, a lounge, a garden, and an activities room intended for residents aged 65 and older. SageHaus Living, the organization leading the project, stated that the homes are intended for individuals with assessed care needs. Additionally, the resubmitted proposals call for the enlargement of Loen House, a component of the site, to create a new communal area for residents.

During the council meeting, it was clarified that the number of bedrooms within the individual units remains unchanged from the original application. The modifications are specifically aimed at widening staircases to improve accessibility. Officials noted that these structural changes would not result in an increase in the total number of occupants across the development.

The decision follows a review process where the council sought improvements to ensure the facility meets accessibility standards. The project combines independent living units with integrated care services, a model designed to support older adults who require varying levels of assistance. The approval marks the completion of the planning stage for this specific residential and care project in the Frimley district.
