Caglianone powers Royals comeback
The Kansas City Royals defeated the host Los Angeles Angels 7-6 on Saturday, August 15, at Angel Stadium. Despite falling behind for much of the contest, the visitors managed to equalize and take the lead in the final two innings. The game featured three home runs, with the Royals accounting for two of them through the bat of Caglianone.
Early lead, then a back-and-forth battle
Massey opened the scoring in the second inning with a 400-foot home run to right center. The Royals extended their lead in the third inning when a Caglianone single drove in two runs. However, the Angels answered immediately.
Schanuel’s double brought home three runs to make it 3-3, and a Neto single added another to give Anaheim a 4-3 lead. Caglianone tied the game at 5-5 in the fifth inning with a two-run home run to right center. The Angels regained a 6-5 advantage in the sixth inning on a 407-foot home run by Lowe.
Late rally decides it
The decisive sequence began in the seventh inning. A Caglianone single brought Witt Jr. home on an error to tie the game at 6-6. Shortly after, Massey singled to right, scoring Caglianone for the go-ahead run. Massey was thrown out at second, ending the inning and the game.
