A High-Scoring Affair

The Los Angeles Dodgers secured an 11-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. The final tally improved the Dodgers' record to 75-51, while the Rockies fell to 50-75. The game drew 34,609 fans to the Denver venue.

Early Offensive Surge

Los Angeles established control early with significant production in the third inning. After a run scored in the second on a double by Betts and a single by Muncy, the Dodgers exploded for three runs in the bottom of the third. Muncy homered to right center, a 461-foot shot that plated Freeman and Pages.

This was followed by a sacrifice fly from McCarthy that scored Amador, making it 5-0.

The Dodgers added another run in the fifth when Ohtani homered to left center. Betts grounded out later in the frame, allowing Pages to cross the plate. In the sixth, Ohtani hit his second home run of the day, a 452-foot blast to center that also scored Edman. Freeman singled to drive in another run, pushing the lead to 10-1.

Pitching Performances

Blake Snell took the win for Los Angeles, pitching six innings. He allowed two hits and one earned run while striking out five batters. Alex Vesia and Evan Phillips each pitched one scoreless inning, with Phillips recording a strikeout. Edwin Diaz worked the ninth, allowing four hits and three earned runs in his outing.

For Colorado, Tomoyuki Sugano took the loss after five innings of work. He surrendered seven hits and six earned runs, striking out three batters. Juan Mejia pitched one inning, giving up five hits and three earned runs.

TJ Shook worked two innings, allowing two hits and one earned run with one strikeout. Troy Johnston pitched the final inning, issuing one walk but allowing no hits or runs.

Late Inning Action

Colorado managed a few more runs late in the game. In the seventh, B. Sullivan hit a sacrifice fly to score Norby. The Rockies added two more runs in the ninth inning on singles by Amador and Tovar, who both scored via sacrifice flies. Veen doubled to right, scoring Amador and putting B. Sullivan in scoring position before the final out was recorded.

Ohtani’s home runs were key to the Dodgers' offensive output. Freeman also contributed with a double in the eighth inning that scored Ohtani. The Rockies’ offense was led by multi-hit efforts from several batters, but they could not overcome the early deficit against Snell and the Dodgers' bullpen.
