Dodgers Dominate Early Offense
The Los Angeles Dodgers claimed a 4-0 victory over the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, August 23, at Dodger Stadium. The home squad, now 80-51, built its lead with consistent baserunning rather than power, as there were no home runs recorded in the contest. The Pirates, dropping to 63-69, were unable to score a single run despite reaching base with hits and walks.
Scoring Sequence
The Dodgers struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Mookie Betts grounded into a double play, allowing Shohei Ohtani to score and making the count 0-1. The offense remained steady through the middle innings.
In the fourth, Tyler Thomas singled to right field, driving in Max Stassi to make it 0-2. Shortly after, Feduccia singled to right, scoring Tucker and extending the lead to 0-3. The final run came in the fifth inning when Muncy grounded out to the pitcher, allowing Freeman to score and set the final margin at 4-0.
Pitching Performance
Blake Snell earned the win, pitching six innings while allowing two hits and three walks. He struck out six batters and did not allow an earned run. The Dodgers bullpen provided the necessary depth to close the game.
