San Jose police confirmed that a woman has died following a shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning. The fatal event took place in the area surrounding Bonita Avenue and Sunny Court.
Dispatchers received reports of the shooting at approximately 1:20 a.m. Responding officers located a female victim at the scene who had sustained at least one gunshot wound. Emergency personnel transported her to a local hospital, where she was subsequently pronounced dead.
Law enforcement officials stated that they have taken a person of interest into custody in the vicinity of the shooting. The identity of the deceased woman and the specific circumstances leading to the shooting have not yet been released.
