Early Lead Fades

San Diego began Saturday’s contest at Dodger Stadium with momentum, taking an early 3-0 advantage before the seventh inning. The Padres’ offense generated runs through timely hitting and a power display, but a single swing in the final regular frame shifted the entire momentum of the game. Teoscar Hernández delivered a decisive blow for the home team, capping a rally that secured a 4-3 victory for Los Angeles.

Scoring Sequence

The Padres struck first in the top of the first inning. Sheets singled to right field, allowing Tatis Jr. to cross the plate and give San Diego a 1-0 lead. Cronenworth advanced to third base during the play but did not score. The Padres extended their advantage in the fourth inning when Merrill launched a 423-foot home run to center field, making the score 2-0.

San Diego added another run in the sixth inning. Bogaerts doubled to right field, driving in Merrill to push the lead to 3-0. The Padres held this three-run cushion into the seventh inning, appearing poised to complete a solid day at the stadium.

The Seventh Inning Shift

The game’s turning point arrived in the bottom of the seventh. Teoscar Hernández homered to center field, measuring 419 feet. This home run was a grand slam, scoring Hernández himself along with runners Betts, Muncy, and Tucker. The four-run inning erased San Diego’s lead and gave Los Angeles a 4-3 advantage. The Padres were unable to respond, and the Dodgers held on for the win.
