A One-Sided Effort
The Colorado Rockies found themselves trailing early in their Saturday contest against the San Francisco Giants. The home team took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Tovar scored on a single by Carrigg. However, the Rockies quickly answered with a solo home run to right field by Drew Gilbert, tying the game at 1-1. That would be the last time the visitors would be within striking distance.
Giants Take Control
The San Francisco offense exploded in the fourth inning, scoring six runs to build an insurmountable lead. The sequence began with a sacrifice fly by Hill that scored Lee, making it 1-2. The damage continued when Gilbert singled to center, allowing Cavanaugh and Kennedy to score, pushing the lead to 1-4. Devers followed with a ground-rule double that brought in Koss, extending the advantage to 1-5. A wild pitch by Colorado reliever Parker Mushinski allowed Gilbert to score, bringing the total to 1-6. The inning concluded with a single by Eldridge that scored Devers, resulting in a 7-1 lead for the Giants.
Pitching Performance
Logan Webb anchored the Giants' rotation, earning the win in his eighth decision of the season. He pitched six innings, allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out seven batters and walking none. Carson Seymour secured the save, pitching two scoreless innings with one hit allowed and three strikeouts. Dylan Smith closed the game with one inning of work, retiring the only batter he faced with a strikeout and allowing no hits or earned runs.
