In a preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers, tight ends Charlie Kolar and David Njoku both received starting positions for the Los Angeles Chargers. Kolar made one reception for nine yards during his eight snaps, while Njoku played five snaps without any targets.

Oronde Gadsden, another tight end, was not utilized until the second quarter. Although Gadsden is viewed as the top receiving option at the position, the snap counts from Week 1 suggest that Kolar and Njoku may be co-starters. This development could create challenges for fantasy football managers, as targets might be shared among three tight ends and a fullback in the offense.

Kolar's role seems limited in clear passing situations, indicating he may not have much fantasy relevance going forward. Further information on the team's strategy regarding the tight end position has yet to be disclosed.
