The Los Angeles Chargers will be without their starting center Tyler Biadasz for the entire season following an ACL injury. Biadasz was injured at a practice session with the San Francisco 49ers last week when defensive lineman Sebastian Valdez fell onto his legs during an 11-on-11 drill.
Biadasz, 28, had joined the Chargers this offseason on a three-year, $30 million deal after being let go by the Washington Commanders. He was anticipated to strengthen the offensive line, taking over the role from Bradley Bozeman, who had been the center for the last two seasons.
In light of Biadasz's injury, rookie Jake Slaughter will take over as the center. Slaughter, a second-round draft selection, was initially vying for the left guard position but will revert to center, a position he previously played at the University of Florida.
This injury adds to the Chargers' history of significant offensive line injuries during training camps, as last season saw left tackle Rashawn Slater suffer a torn patellar tendon shortly after signing a new contract.
