The Los Angeles Rams are carefully handling the injuries of edge rusher Myles Garrett and wide receiver Puka Nacua. Garrett has not practiced since last Monday due to knee swelling, while Nacua suffered a groin injury during a joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys.
Although head coach Sean McVay initially indicated a possible return for Nacua this week, the decision has been made to keep him out for the time being.
McVay mentioned, "Puka is doing good. We're just taking it a day at a time," while also suggesting Garrett could be back next week. The Rams are emphasizing the importance of their players' health over immediate practice participation. Throughout training camp, the team has been careful with its veterans, including managing practice schedules for quarterback Matthew Stafford and providing rest days for other team members.
In addition to the injuries to Garrett and Nacua, rookie offensive tackle Keagen Trost is expected to be sidelined for several weeks due to a hamstring injury sustained during a game against the Kansas City Chiefs. McVay confirmed that Trost's recovery will likely take a few weeks, which may affect the team's offensive line depth, especially with uncertainty regarding a potential suspension for Alaric Jackson.
While it appears that Garrett and Nacua will miss the upcoming joint practice with the New Orleans Saints, their return next week is a possibility. Trost's recovery timeline is longer, but the Rams are focused on ensuring all players are fit for the regular season.
