The San Francisco 49ers are gearing up to include several starters in their upcoming game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed on Tuesday that some key players will participate, marking a shift from their last preseason game.
Shanahan noted, "Not all of them will play, but I expect a number of starters to be involved, which is different from last week." He also indicated that starting quarterback Brock Purdy has a "good chance" of seeing action, though he has not yet informed Purdy of this decision.
Earlier this week, the 49ers and Chargers held a joint practice in Los Angeles. In their previous preseason game against the Tennessee Titans, the 49ers did not field any of their starters.
The kickoff for the matchup is set for 10 p.m. ET on Thursday.
